Writing the term paper

Have you ever started writing one of most important term papers in your semester and got stuck right after turning on the computer? The process of writing a term paper is complex enough and should be understood properly, before getting started. Lets look at it step by step, in order not to miss important points. The first and one of the most important steps is to choose the subject for your term paper. If the school does not give you the concrete subject it can become a problem, because there is great number of topics all around you, which seems to be suitable enough for writing, but it is very important to choose the BEST one. The word best is a wide concept, so lets see what it includes: first of all the topic of the term paper should be interesting and understandable for you. The second characteristic of the best topic is its narrowness. You have to make sure that the topic is not very wide, because in this case you might lose your focus, and the teacher will not get your point. At the same time, if the topic is too narrow you might find you have nothing to write about. In order to choose the topic, you should read the text book several times very carefully and then choose the question which really interests you and which you want to meditate upon. The term paper requires you to show how you can examine the subject and to prove your point, so go ahead, show what you can! It is helpful when the topic is stated as the question, then you have what to look for! The next step is to choose sources. In order to provide relevant and right information in your term paper, you have to research several sources. It is good to compare the information and write only the facts that you know for sure, then you will definitely have no problem proving your idea to the teacher if the questions will appear. You have to be sure that your sources are not too old (well, of course if the paper does not require using some historical sources). After you have read through ALL your sources organize the ideas in your head. Make it clear for yourself how these ideas should flow in your term paper, one by one. It is good to make notes of your ideas. When writing notes do not forget to notice the sources from which you have taken the ideas. It will help to save time in the future. You will not need to go back to the source to check if it is the one used. When choosing the ideas from the sources, be sure not to misunderstand the writer and not to misinform the audience. You have to include ideas that both support and deny the idea you research in order to open your question as clear as possible. After you are done with your notes, make an outline of your term paper. Organize the notes by topics and put them in the right order. The more detailed will be the outline the easier it will be for you to write the paper. When writing the term paper, follow the outline. Make sure to open all points mentioned in the outline. It is important to fulfill this formula: firstly, say what you want to say; then, at the end, repeat what you have said. This will make the audience to absorb and to understand all the information. The last but not the least is proofreading and revising the paper. When you reread the paper try to look at it critically as if you are a teacher. Make your paper sound good; take away vague and unnecessary words, because they often take away the attention from the other more important things. The term paper requires a lot of serious work try to show the teacher that you have really carefully researched your question and know everything about it. I can tell for sure that if you will follow all the steps described above, you will have no problem writing and defending your term paper.

Introduction Throughout history, there have been many good and bad rulers, from the bravery of Alexander the Great, to the madness of George III. None, however, helped shape European feudalism like Charlemagne, King of the Franks, First of the Holy Roman Emperors. His advancements in government were not his only advancements though. He created an educational system for his people. While far behind the public and private educational systems of today, in the 8th and 9th century, it was a start. He also helped spread Christianity throughout Europe. Born in Northern Europe in 752, he was to become one of history's great leaders, and precursor to the Holy Roman Empire. Brief History of the Line of Frankish kings. In 481, Clovis became king of one of the Frankish tribes. Because of a bet he made with his wife, he became Christian, and he forced 3,000 of his soldiers to become Christian also. This would eventually gain the support of the Catholic Church for both himself and the Franks. However, Clovis's qualities as a leader were not passed on to his sons, and on Clovis's death, his sons divided the kingdom that he worked to build. Later Merovingian kings became inept at ruling the kingdom, and eventually became kings in just name only. The business of ruling the kingdom was left to the "Mayor of the Palace". In 751, Pope Zacharias arranged for Childeric III to be sent to a monastery and for Pepin, Mayor of the Palace, to be crowned king. But, the alliance between the Papacy and the Franks would soon be tested. Aistulf, king of the Lombards, captured lands north of Rome and announced his intention to capture Rome itself. In an attempt by the Papacy to prevent this disaster, the Pope sent out to ask Pepin the Short, for his assistance in dealing with the Lombards. He would eventually defeat the Lombards in battle, and the land that was gained was given to the Catholic Church, in the Donation of Pepin which created the Papal States. Birth and Parentage, and Childhood Charles I, or Charlemagne was born in 742. He was the son of Pepin the Short and Bertrada. Little is known about his childhood, other than the fact that he liked riding horses and hunting. He attempted to learn how to write, but was unsuccessful. He did however learn how to speak fluently in Latin, despite his attempt at learning how to write. Charlemagne's roots can be traced back to Ansegis, Mayor of Austrasia and Begga. His most famous ancestors however, were his father and grandfather, Pepin the Short and Charles Martel, respectively. After the death of Pepin the Short, Charlemagne and his brother Carloman were proclaimed kings by their supporting nobles, and were anointed by their respective bishops. Military Successes During his life In 769, Aquitaine and Gascony broke into rebellion. Charlemagne was forced to try to crush these rebellions without his brother's assistance. Charlemagne marched his army through Bordeaux and defeated the rebel leader, Hunold. Duke Hunold was to flee to the protection of Lupus, Duke of the Gascons. But Duke Lupus agreed to give up Duke Hunold to Charlemagne, and was granted peace. Hunold was not executed, but was returned to monastic alive. After the reconquest of Aquitaine, his mother tried to get Charlemagne to reconcile with his brother, but he was already making treaties with rulers that surrounded Carloman's kingdom. To try and seal the peace with Lombardy, he married the daughter of the king of Lombardy, Desiderata. Pope Stephen III did not like this marriage, for they encouraged Frankish kings to weaken the power of the Lombards, whose territories bordered upon it's own. He then made an alliance with her father, Desiderius, which made the Pope give up his objections to the mar riage. However, after one year, Charlemagne divorced his wife and married Hildegarde, a Suabian noblewoman. In 771, there was a fear that Carloman, Charlemagne's brother, and Desiderata would create an alliance and attack Charlemagne, but in December of that year, Carloman died, leaving Charlemagne in complete control of the Frankish Kingdom. It is only the speed and extent of globalization has increased significantly over the past 15 years largely as a result of several developments: technological developments, better transport facility, which have led to a diminished importance of distance in trade. Production processes have been relocated globally through off shoring and outsourcing of production. Trade and capital market integration has accelerated. First, I must say that I am not trying to create the impression in people's minds that I want to see young college students, especially women, roaming the campus streets trying to turn a trick. That would just be insane because that person could only end up getting hurt. What I am envisioning is an escort service. Girls and guys would be able to dial a number where they can acquire the company of someone for the evening. True identities of all parties involved would be concealed to respect privacy, and only ISU students would be allowed to use the service. This way, it would just be the college students, and not the community that would benefit from this service. One of the things that college students suffer from the most is stress, why else do they break the law and go out and get trashed from drinking each weekend? By getting overly stimulated by alcohol, they forget about the stressful week that they just endured. Sex could possibly become a substitute for this, therefore reducing the number of underage drinkers. After all, it has been proven that a little physical activity can rejuvenate the body and leave you feeling refreshed and energized; ready to take on new and challenging tasks. On the flip side though, it can be argued that some people might take advantage of the system and try to pay for sex when they are not truly stressed out. A person may simply want to have sex and making an appointment may possibly take away the service from someone who truly needs it.

All of us have probably had the experience of thinking about a character in a book, movie, or television show as a real person (rather than a fictional creation or an actor playing a part). This happens because the writer (and the actor for a movie or television show) has done their job well. Theyve portrayed a three-dimensional character with strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Your challenge as a writer is to convince your readers, in the first few paragraphs, that the person you are writing about is real. Only if you do so will they care what happens to them in the rest of the story.What about non-fiction? How do you capture the attention of your readers? Asking a question can build anticipation for what is to come, but only if its the right question. If its a question that they already know the answer to, why should they continue reading?
